BTEC National Award - Business

BTEC Business is open to any student, whether or not you have studied Business in Years 10 and 11 previously.

If you are looking to enhance your career prospects, wanting to go on to further study in business or want to develop skills and understanding that are directly relevant to the business world, then BTEC Business is for you.

  • Obtain a qualification that is relevant to the world of work and developed in conjunction with employers
  • Gain a qualification that is recognised by UCAS.

How can you progress from this course?

To work in business related roles – for example: supervisory or management trainee.
To college or university for further study.
To work-related and occupational qualifications in business.

How is the course delivered?

All students study six units, including four core units:

Unit 1 Exploring Business Activity
Unit 2 Investigating Business Resources
Unit 3 Introduction to Marketing
Unit 4 Effective People, Communication and Information

How is the course assessed?

There are no exams. You will produce a portfolio of coursework that will be assessed by your tutor and this will be checked by Edexcel. You will be awarded one of three grades – Pass, Merit or Distinction.

What qualification will I gain?

The BTEC Business course will lead to students being awarded a BTEC National Award in Business. This qualification is equivalent to 1 A Level and is fully recognised as such by UCAS and Universities. A Pass at in this qualification is worth 40 UCAS points, a Merit 80 points and a Distinction 120 points.
