BTEC First Diploma in Health & Social Care
This one year course offers you the opportunity to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding which will prepare you for:-
Entry into employment in the Health and Social Care Sector e.g. Care/Nursing Assistant, Nursery Nurse, or any other type of work involving caring for people with physical, emotional and social needs.
Entry into BTEC Level 3 (Diploma) Health and Social Care (2 year course) or courses in a Further Education establishment or on the job training.
The BTEC First Diploma is a 6 unit course and it offers the individual a specialist qualification that focuses on particular aspects of employment with the Health and Social Care Sector in mind.
The 6 unit course tries to cover all aspects of Health and Social Care.
The Core Units are:-
Communication and Individual Rights within the Health and Social Care Sector
Individual Needs within the Health and Social Care Sectors
The 4 Specialist Units are:-
Unit 3 – Vocational Experience in a Health or Social Care Setting
Unit 6 – Human Lifespan Development
Unit 8 – Health and Social Care Services
Unit 9 – The Impact of Diet on Health
All of the individual students work will be internally assessed and externally verified in the form of portfolio work.
