BTEC First Diploma in Travel & Tourism

What will I study?

Cave dwellersYou will look at all aspects of this exciting and fast changing industry. You will increase your understanding of how travel and tourism organisations operate in real life, how they promote their products, care for their customers and how they organise their business. You will get to know more about popular tourist destinations both at home and abroad. Students will be expected to go on a number of visits to a variety of different tourist related destinations. A two week work experience placement can also be organised for students.

Career routes involving Travel and Tourism

The course introduces you to the employment area of travel and tourism, providing a good basis to go on to more advanced work-related qualifications or to other Advanced Level courses.
There are now more jobs being created in travel and tourism than in any other part of the economy, with tourism being the fastest growing industry worldwide. Types of careers that build from this course include work in travel agents, for airlines, hotels, leisure centres, in theme parks or in any other business where customer service is important.

Structure of the course

>Treak CliffLike other BTEC courses this is a practical, work-related course. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. All of these are assessed in the school.

Students will follow the First Diploma course equivalent to 4 GCSEs grades A* - C.
