Modern Foreign Languages

Students in Key Stage 3 study French. Students in Key Stage 4 may opt to continue studying French up to GCSE level. French AS and A level are available to Sixth Form students at Wolverhampton College.

Students are “banded” in Years 8 and 9 with 3 sets in each band, a top set, middle set and a smaller set where support is more easily targeted.

All students have 3 periods per week of 50 minutes (morning) or 45 minutes (afternoon).

At Key Stage 4 we often have a double period and a single period.

Principal Course Books in use are:

  • Year 8 - Equip Nouvelle 2
  • Year 9 - Equip Nouvelle 3
  • Years 10 and 11 - Telescope

The department also prepares their own materials and has developed a huge range of activities for use with the interactive whiteboard.
