Information, Advice and Guidance
At Coppice we pride ourselves on supporting our young people in their learning AND planning for their future. We encourage students to “aim high” so that they can achieve their very best and reach their potential. Clearly parent's support in this is just as important in ensuring a child’s success in the future.
Did you know that a student can get £30 per week to stay on in learning after the age of 16 (EMA)?
Did you know that there is financial support to assist students going to university?
Do you know about all the new courses available – for example, Diplomas?
Do you know that if your child continues into Higher Education they will earn an average £26,000 compared to £8,000 for a school leaver?
I am sure you have lots of questions. Below is a list of useful websites which provide excellent up to date information to help students and parents in decision making about their future learning opportunities as well as general health and life support sites.

EMA could give you up to £30 per week to help out with costs of staying in learning after 16. The money is paid directly into your bank account and can be used to pay, for example, for books, travel and equipment. You do not have to stop working part-time if you get EMA and it does not affect any benefits that you, your parents or carers receive. If you qualify, EMA payments are £10, £20 or £30 per week, depending on your household income. You can also get bonuses if you do well on your course, and meet targets set by the school. |
